The Minister for Care and Mental Health, Gillian Keegan MP, said it is “vital” people come forward to get vaccinated, after getting her flu jab at a community pharmacy during Ask Your Pharmacist (AYP) week.
The Minister paid a visit to National Pharmacy Association (NPA) member Portmans Pharmacy in Pimlico, Westminster, on Thursday (4 November). She met pharmacist/director Anar Tejani who administered the flu jab and gave her a tour of the pharmacy.
Gillian Keegan said:
“It’s really important that people get themselves protected against this nasty virus. Your local pharmacy is a convenient place to get vaccinated and it offers a range of other NHS services too, as part of your local healthcare team.”
The visit took place during Ask Your Pharmacist week, the NPA’s flagship annual awareness campaign. Andrew Lane, NPA chair, also met with the Minister at the pharmacy and handed her a copy of the NPA’s recently published ‘How We Can Help’ report.
He said: “It was good to be able to help facilitate the minister having her flu jab at one of our member pharmacies. Events like these help politicians see first-hand the care pharmacies provide and also encourage others to get vaccinated.”
